A MESSAGE FROM HOLLY - NEWLY ADOPTED "DAUGHTER" OF BOB AND JENNIFER (SOKLASKI)
Just pawsing from my daily routine to let you know how life is in my neck of the
woods. I've arrived -- BOY have I arrived!!!!!  Living the life of Riley!  Just
about getting used to all the new sights and sounds of my new house.  I've even
gotten used to that funny accent my mum has.  Funnily enough, she doesn't even have
to speak for me to know she LOVES me -- in fact she ADORES me.  We talk about my
brother, Casey, whom I did not get to meet.  Mum says he would have loved me, too.
I've been to the vet more times than  I care to remember.  The last visit was to get
my teeth cleaned -- now I have to put up with having my mother brush my teeth -- yes
-- actually brush my teeth.  Fortunately the toothpaste tastes good. For those who
haven't heard my history:  I am three years of age -- don't know the exact date of
my birth but mum and dad are giving me an official birthday of December 24th.  This
has something to do with the fact that they changed my name to Holly.  The people I
lived with originally called me Ladybird but, I have to confess, I never did like
that name.  Now, if my last name had been "Johnson" I could have understood it.  I
was living over in Hollywood (Fort Lauderdale area) with a family consisting of two
parents and six girls (ranging in age from 10 years to six months).  Due to
circumstances I had no control over, I was sent to a Cocker Spaniel Rescue (thank
goodness the lady  at the Florida Cocker Spaniel Rescue took the trouble to drive
all the way over from Brooksville to Fort Lauderdale to get me).  I spent two months
at the rescue center (along with many, many, other dogs -- all looking for good
homes - hint, hint).  One day the lady at the Rescue Center took me to a place in
Land-O-Lakes to meet up with someone she thought would like to adopt me.  They were
very sad because they had recently lost their little black Cocker Spaniel to
something called "kidney disease".  Well, they seemed to like me (despite the fact
that I did not have too much fur due to the fact that when I arrived at the Cocker
Rescue, I was ABSOLUTELY covered in TICKS!!!!!!!!!  It took an hour to bathe me and
get the ticks off me then they had to shave me down to the skin and STILL found 12
ticks on me -- still alive.  My new mum and dad took me home with them (this was on
July 26th) and I've been in clover ever since.  At first I was very apprehensive
because I truly loved Carol, who rescued me in the first place. At this very moment,
I am sitting on a very comfortable chair, right next to where my mum is typing on
her "bloody 'puter" as she puts it.  She's always having trouble with the "bloody"
thing!!!  Mum has taken photographs of me that she would like you all to "ooh and
ahh" over -- they are supposed to be attached to this e-mail. Well, gotta go now.
The sun is just coming out and we are going to find a doggie park that the neighbors
have told us about.  There are two parks -- one for the biggies and one for the
little 'uns.  That's the one I'm going to. 'Bye for now. Lots of woofs, wags, and
sloppy kisses. Holly xoxoxoxox P.S.:  If you want someone to love you fur-ever,
adopt a pet!
