Sammy is a forever foster with his current foster family. His elderly owner died. His family brought Sammy to the shelter. At first we assumed his severely infected teeth were responsible for his poor condition, but we soon discovered a much more serious problem: He is in heart failure. Thankfully, he survived major dental, which resolved the infected mouth. He does have large fistula on roof of his mouth where repair did not hold. Fortunately, it is towards the side so does not seem to cause him much of a problem. The internal specialist vet has him on multiple heart medications which are keeping Sammy comfortable for now. We will provide for Sammy for the time he has left.
